Angry Leak

Has anyone ever had a problem with their weather stripping on the doors? I don't know how or where water comes from but sometimes when I get in the car there will be water standing in my passenger floor board. Nothing else is wet. And I mean NOTHING! Just the carpet. The rubber floor mat don't even hardly get wet. Please let me know of any thoughts you might have on what the problem is. Thank you.

Have you NOT heard of the infamous water leak and the associated TSB? Get it taken care of before your SJB goes to chit and you're looking at a very expensive repair if you're out of warranty. It is NOT the window weatherstripping.

Seriously, no I haven't heard of that. This car is actually my first ford. I bought in March of 08 with 4000 miles on it. It was a garage car and it has just recently started this. Could you explain what you mean about the TSB and SJB? Thanks...

When you back out of this thread, check the stickies in the forum. One of the stickies includes the TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins). There are quite a few on our S197's. Just scroll down until you find the one for the water leak, print it and take it to the dealer. The leak drips around the Smart Junction Box and, after time from being wet, the connections begin to to corrode. Many report all sorts of strange electrical gremlins. Someone recently reported that the dealership claimed his repair, although under warranty, would have cost him $6,000.

Read thru the remainder of the TSB's. I wouldn't be surprised if you find a few others that pertain to your car that need some attention.

This thread is one of the biggest, but there are many. It should provide you with all kindsa answers. Short answer though, it's a serious problem you need to get taken care of right away.

Sorry. Many of us have been there, and it sucks. I still think Ford should issue a recall, and I can't see anyone convincing me otherwise.

TSB = technical service bulletin = there is an identified issue and MAY affect your car

AKA large enough complaints that Ford has received but they don't care to or is not a safety issue to do a recall to relieve the issue, though if you are under warranty, should be covered.

You need to read up on the water leak issue. It's not a fun one and will cause many headaches if you don't pinch it at the bud.

Sorry to hear man, hope you get it cleared up.
