Detailing Help

I agree with the clay bar. I have a satin silver stang and always had a dull finish until i clayed the car. I wash the car, then clay bar, then turtle wax ICE the car and buff, then wait about an hour, buff the liquid ice then use polishing wax to seal it off. The shine could not be any better! Good Luck!!!!!

How does a clay bar work exactly? And where do you go about getting one? I've heard about em before but I don't know too much about em.
Also, my stang has a few scratch in some areas, especially on the back end. Most of them aren't too deep at all, how do you guys recommend going about getting em out?

Good info on clay here: http://www.autogeek.net/detailing-clay-bar.html
As for getting the scratches out, it totally depends on how deep they are. Always use the LEAST abrasive compound necessary to get the job done. If a mild swirl remover works, then stop at that. If you have to use rubbing compound, then be very careful & do as small a spot as possible because you're going to have to polish it back to its' original finish.

Hope this helps and is constructive
1) Meguires clay bar
2) Meguires Paint cleaner
3) Meguires No7 polish
4) Maeguires NXT Gen 2.0 wax
Of coarse wash the car first and dry with a soft (the softer the better) towel.
Once you clay the car you are ready for the paint cleaner.
When applying the paint cleaner apply it north to south or east to west never in a circular fashion.
Now you are ready for the polish which is applied in the same fashion as the paint cleaner.
Lastly apply the wax in the same fashion as the last two steps.
Use the softest towels possible to take the last three products off.
Don't forget to polish your rims with the appropriate product.
On the inside vacuum the car thoroughly.
Wipe all vinyl/plastic surfaces with Meguires interior products.
Clean windows with a quality window cleaner
Don't forget to apply a tire dressing.
Lift hood and wipe down the metal and polish/wax along with any metal surfaces
I apply dressing to the hoses/rubber
Now you are pretty much ready to drive the car.
I do not have pics on this computer but if you need to see a shiny car you can go to a small site CMOC and look under Snakebite and under a thread of rate my hood shine you will see my pics. The car has 800 miles and 155 coats of polish/wax etc.
Good luck
