Just a thought....
Just received the latest issue of MM&FF(Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine) and according to the write up of the new 5.0L V-8 for 2011, this design has been in the works since early 2007. Since the 2010 Mustang debuted to meet the arrival of the new Camaro last spring, does anyone get the feeling(in light of all the bankruptcy bailouts received by GM & Mopar) that Ford wanted to really debut the 2010 Mustang properly(meaning late '09 early '10) with the 5.0L engine in place? Seems to me that Ford waited to react to what GM was doing with the new Camaro(remember, Chevy had that car on the show circuit for 3 years before releasing if to the public) and were pretty much forced to put a fresh product out to before they probably wanted to. What do you all think? I think the 2010 buyers got the short end of the stick while having good faith in Ford, I mean a near 100hp increase from one model year to the next in both V-6 & GT models? Has never happened in the history of the Mustang before.

"Properly", LOL. I have heard that the 5.0 was really due for '12 and that it was rushed to '11. I don't feel like I got the short end, I would feel that way if I bought an '09.
The good news is that Ford has emerged as a quality leader and that the Mustang is alive and well. January sales were up 62% over a year ago.

I bought my car knowing the 11's were coming out, and I'm thankful they are because I was able to get my 2010 built exactly the way I ordered it, driven by no one by me! Had the 11's not come out, I'd have to settle for an 05-09.

I didn't mean to make it sound like anyone who bought a '10 was foolish, just seems to me that why would a company like Ford put out a great redesign with the older powertrain and a year later put out a car with 100 more hp? Maybe as someone stated, the '10 was on target and the '11 is being rushed to dealerships as to not lose more sales.
As the title stated, just a thought......

I think Ford wanted the new engines for the 2010 MY, but had problems with the engines. Another year of testing and redesign now gives Ford the confidence they need to put these engines into the hands of the general public. I doubt if the new engines will be trouble free relative to the 4.6L, but they will be better than any new Microsoft product.
