CAI Question
#11
I have a question and I'll just throw it out to see what you all think. I currently have a K&N Aircharger CAI with Brenspeed custom tunes. The aircharger supposedly can be run with stock tune. The only problem is I just never felt I got as much out of it as I expected. Do you guys think it would be worth it to swap it out for the $205 JLT kit? I figure I can sell my Aircharger for maybe $100. Any ideas?

It would be worth it to me. I am doubtful that you could sell the k&n for that price, but who knows. The aircharger can still throw a code on some cars with the stock setup and no tune. It also depends how well you already like your Brenspeed tune for the k&n? If satisfied with it, why waste the money and hassle of trying to sell your old kit? I'm sure the JLT has more gains, but I doubt you could feel the change after the switch.

I have a BBK CAI, which required no tune. Had it for a month or so, threw a code. Decided to get Brenspeed to write tunes for me. I gave it a brief thought to just switch out the CAI, but then thought to myself, why waste money on another CAI if I'm not going to do much in regards with performance mods. It's still under the hood and I think it looks good so it stays.

While I would not have picked it my airiad(came with the car) has been great. When the MVT removed its 100mm MAF, JLT makes one thats 110mm and is carbon fiber which I like the look of. Just cant bring myself to spend money on a cai when I already have one.

Thanks for your wisdom guys. After thinking it over, I'll just stay with my K&N and Brenspeed tunes. Actually, I ran the K&N quite a while before I got the Brenspeed tunes with the stock tune with no codes. I haven't had any codes since I got the new tunes either. I decided, the small amount of increase probably wouldn't be noticable. Thanks again for different points of view, that's why I asked. Peace out!
