Upgrade Exhaust???
I bought my 07 GT about two months ago and noticed a nice rattling sound coming from underneath the car recently. I climbed under and found that the hanger on the back of the muffler has broken off and was causing the rattle.
Here is my question....What is currently on her are Flowmaster 40's, with welded on 3 inch tips. These sound good, but just dont look that great. I am looking for opinions on if I should just get the hanger welded back on or....upgrade to Pypes Violators or perhaps get the muffler delete package from Pypes.
Should i save my money and weld the hanger or make the ugrade happen?
Another option out there are some SLP LM's on craigslist for $100, used but in great shape....wife thinks they may be too loud....

From what I can tell, there are people who like a lot of different muffler setups on the S197, but hate SLP, and there are people who like SLP...for some reason. Personally, I don't think SLP sounds like a Mustang from any year in any way. If you want to be completely against Mustang tradition and like a tractor sound, then SLP is a cheap way to do that. If you want it to sound like a Mustang, get something else.

Your response is exactly why I am having a hard time deciding what to do...take hte SLP's out of the equation. What way would you go? I like the sound of the Flows, but is it really worth spending $250 for the PYPES?

Stay away from the Pypes. I went that way before the SLPs, and they're cheap for a reason. You get what you pay for. The pypes fit was terrible, nothing lined up and took me and a friend forever to muscle them into position. And they don't sound as deep as other set-ups, IMO.

Yes, pypes is not a simple R&R procedure for a complete exhaust overhaul. There will be a need to fit-n-finish whatever exhaust you buy from them.
Personal experience, had to cut about 4 inches off of the X-pipe when I got my dual exhaust system for my 00 v6. Even then, the bends over the rear axle were rotated slighly outward from where they needed to be which caused interference. I had to reroute my brake lines to keep the exhaust tubes from rubbing and burning up my rear brake lines.
