Default DIY Chasing Tail Lights - Possible?

I've been looking at the splice kits and whole kits going from $100-150 on average.

but is it possible to build your own kit? I've seen the new light sockets at my autoparts store for about $6 a pop (if you replaced the OEM sockets). It seems that somebody could whip up their own kit for about $40 by re-using the stock harness parts.

seems like the hardest part would be getting the circuit board/relays/something that would control the chasing/blinking function.

feasible?

thx

is there anything to use other than a firestick? that write-up is interesting...but damn it would be better to just pay the $100 for the splice-in kit

One thing to consider, most companies you buy from do have a warranty. If you go and do it yourself and it doesn't work or messes something up, you are SOL.
Save yourself some grief and time, just buy one.
