Question Using an SCT SF3 on more than one car?

Hey all, I've got a friend of mine here in town with a black GT, and he's installed a K&N CAI onto his car, and I asked if he'd tuned it, and he had no clue what I was talking about. Is it possible, if I order tunes under his computer code compatible with his intake, to use my SCT tuner on his car? Or is this tuner basically locked to my car for life? I was thinking if I returned Rose to stock, uploaded his tunes onto the device, tuned his car, then saved his stock file onto my PC, and put my tunes back, it would work? Anyone done this?

Thanks.

No sir, won't happen. When you put a custom tune on your car, the tuner takes the stock tune, thus "marrying" the tuner to your car. If you return yours to stock, then use the tuner on his car, the VIN of his car will be in the tuner.

Now, I suppose an option, if you were truly desperate, would be to return your car to stock, load a custom tune to his car, and then pay to unlock it. That way, you'll have an unlocked tuner, ready to be put back on your car. However, if something goes wrong with your buddy's car, he's SOL, as any problems with his car will have to be fixed via a Ford re-flash. Not cheap.

Yep, if you could, SCT would only be able to sell one
of them and everyone would share...
