I am very interesting in learning to make my own carbon fiber parts but don't know much about the subject. I know its very similar to fiberglass but I want to be able to do it right. I found a website that sells kits to make molds and other kits to make the actual carbon fiber parts but I have never heard of this company. Has anyone had any experience with these guys or ever used their kits? The site is http://www.eastbaycomposites.com/.

I believe most CF parts are done by machine. Every imperfection doing it by hand like FG will be there to see. I see no reason why you couldn't do it at home but I'm not sure how it would turn out. Not nearly as good as what you buy I'd guess.

You could always do something in FG and then just use some CF sheeting on the top layer I'd assume as a nice way to cheat.
