Looks nice! GPS mount may be soon on my list, I don't like them on the window either. I made a fiberglass pod for my '95 but sold it all with the car

I was thinking about between the vents too, Could make it real clean in there

Default Acylic/Plexiglass Mount

Went to Building supply store and asked for a piece of plexiglass 4x8 they gave me a piece 1/4 inch thick for FREE. Pulled vents, held piece of plexi to vent surface and traced with marker the half circle on each side.

Cut with Jig Saw the half circles (spray water on plexiglass surface where your cutting and it cuts easy) (I cut slightly to outside of the marker line so could use a file to get a nice tight fit to the vents.) Do trial fit in car, filing as necessary so it snaps together tight. Added a strip of rubber edging on bottom edge of plexi to stop any vibration on dash

Doing again,
I would go with 3/16 or maybe even 1/8 thick. (on one end of mine had to use dremel to notch plexi surface a bit to get one vent to snap back down, although it would never fall off due to length of vent tubes that go into dash) and maybe make a little taller so can stick a couple of things to it, or a 90 degree lip of some kind on top to attach things to.

With nothing stuck on it, you have to be looking for it to see it, and you can put it up or down in seconds if not wanting it up all the time, and your vents still work.

Find it a perfect location to see & use, and no windshield blocking.
Mounting my SCT-TSX Tuner on it now as well.

Spent 12 gauge shotgun shell that I cleaned out. I wrapped a bit of electrical tape around it to fit snug. I probably didn't have to cut it so short. Sorry for the crappy pic.

Some great ideas here. Do any of you have any trouble locking in to a satelite with the receiver mounted on the dash like that?

I haven't yet. To be honest though, I've only used it a handful of times. I usually know where I'm going... I think.

I plan to remove the center piece to make it as short as possible. I'll wrap the cord around the shaft to make it as short as I can. The whole unit with the GPS mounted on it should fit nicely in the center console. When needed, simply take it, plug it into the socket, and turn it on. No wire to mess with.

Should work out nice. Haven't gotten it yet though. I bought the mount and the GPS for my wife to give me for my birthday on Sunday. No suprise but at least I know it's something I want.
