PIE Adapter Install on Shaker 500.

PIE Adapter Install on Shaker 500.
I finally got around to installing the PIE Adapter to my Shaker 500 so I can use my iPod. I've read a lot of positive and negative reviews about it and made sure to get the correct chipset.
I have to say installation was pretty simple. Pulling the factory head unit is a pretty simple process. I think the biggest pain about the entire process is that the rear 24 pin wiring harness is pretty short so you have limited space to work with if you don't want to sit there and remove the wiring wraps and electrical tape.
Really, all I had to do was connect the power and ground sources for both the adapter and my rca cable to the harness (I soldered it in for a better connection) and plug everything back in. I tested and the whole setup worked on the first try.
Full install probably took a little under an hour and I probably spent about 15 minutes playing with my dog during the process.
The only thing I don't like is that I can't change songs direct from my head unit. I have to do it from the Ipod. The only thing I can really control is the volume but that doesn't really bother me because I have playlists and stuff setup. I probably spent about 80-90 dollars in parts for the adapter and the rca-ipod cable.
It's definitely a nice addition to the ride and beats the hell out of burning MP3 cd's for a road trip.
I took some pictures during the whole process so I'll do a quick write up one of these days for anyone looking to do the same mod.

Does this work with the factory, non-Shaker head unit? And do you have a link to the adaptor? I looked around Best Buy and it was like $150 for their adaptor and $70 for install. I'm also sick of burning cds and would love to have an ipod hookup

I'm really not sure if it will work with the non-shaker.
I bought the adapter off of Amazon. It's the FRD04-AUX

and an IPOD to RCA Adapter

Unless I am mistaken though, the problem with the BrandMotion adapter is that it only allows you to listen to the music stored on your iPod/iPhone. If, like me, you have an iPhone and want to listen to other sources (Pandora, Slacker, Sirius/XM app, Rhapsody), then the BrandMotion adapter isn't what you are looking for. I am sure it is awesome if you just want access to music on your iPod though.
