Default Boost or Cams

I have read many threads about Supercharging and Cam installs. seems to be alot of pro's and cons to both. Read alot of horror stories. Went to the Mustang Show in Pensacola Florida last month and alot of cars had SC's. My question is during everyday driving will anybody notice I have a SC? Will I notice much power increase when I am just driving? Get the feeling that unless I am running hard its not noticeable? on the other hand cams sound great and some have low end power. Was thinking about cam's, headers, tuner, pulleys and no cats. What ya'll think?

You'll notice a sc much more than cams, even under part throttle. Cams usually help upper-end power, as do certain blowers. Cams=helps a little; blower=helps a lot!

that N/A build is only going to gain you top end and a lot less of it than a S/C. and it's probably going to cost almost as much as an intercooled centri.

that pretty much sums it up

it really depends on what you want and what you can afford. if you want a lot of power then keep saving and get a blower. if you'll be ok with just some all-motor bolt ons and a total gain of 50whp or so then the cams are a good pick.

honestly once you catch the horsepower bug you won't be ok with just 50 more whp

If you install a twin screw S/C. Either the Kenne Bell or the Whipple they are very quiet with no gear or rotor noise. Makes your car go fast without letting everyone know it's supercharged. Mines been trouble free almost three years even at the high boost levels.

Dammit, jerjan...now i'm really anxious to get my kb installed! You have any issues with belt slip (6 or 8 rib)?

And, if you do both, the n/a mods AND a blower...well, we'll see what cams and lt's really do with a kb blower.

Well heck, If KB had the 2.8 kit when I got mine I would have put it on instead. I would not do the 2.6 if I could afford the 2.8. The efficiency is higher and the parasitic loss is lower which means more HP to the wheels. Plus if you have a forged bottom end you can crank up the boost, add racing fuel and far surpass the amount of power that the 2.6 makes.

That being said I don't have any issues with belt slip I am running a gator belt from a 6.4 liter diesel ford truck cut down to 6 ribs. Much better belt and much cheaper than KB's belt.
