Depends. If they break off you may still end up paying to have them remove the pieces. And worst case, the head might have to come off.

If I still have to pay when they break them, I don't even see the point in them touching the car. Seems I may be going this one alone. A friend of a friend has a GT too. He has the removal tool.

I bought my 08 GT (build 10/07) new so at 10K I pulled the two piecers out and put Champion 7898 or 7989 (whatever the number was) one piecers. I've got 21K on my car now (a year later) with zippo problems. I pulled a couple of plugs at 18 just to see how they looked. No problems and very clean.

Does this issue apply to V6ers too?

I just pulled mine a few days ago. 2007 with over 45,000 miles.
I let the motor run for about 90 seconds, then took off the COPs.
Sprayed a good amount of Seafoam on each one, followed by some PB Blaster.
Let it soak about 30 seconds.
Then tried taking them out. The inital break to loosen them was a little difficult, but after that they came out just fine.
They did look like crap though.

v6's have the design that like the old 302's have, right next to the header/manifold and are in the side of the head... the v8's arn't like that.

buy the Lisle Tool or the Snap-On tool. runs $100-125 on the internet.

if you break a plug, the tool will get the pieces out. Many many people have used these tools with great success. The days of pulling the head and multiple thousands of $$$ repairs are essentially over
