I'll tell you this. I had ARH 1 5/8" LTs and O/R X with the Borla Stingers, and the trumpeting was too much for me. I switched to Pypes mid-mufflers and the trumpeting is a lot less, but it's still there to a degree. I just hope I don't have to change any part of the exhaust once I get my cams in.
Exactly that was my point don't buy a performance car make it faster and then complain about gas mileage. Going fast cost including fuel. If fuel mileage was that important why in the world would he have 4:10. I don't mind the question just looked odd on the surface when looking at his sig.

To the orginal question I won't know until after the weekend when I put my long tubes on but I doubt it will be a big difference.

I gained some better miles, but not much.. i however did have to turn up the radio..lol..

Did you have an o/r mid pipe before? Does the sound change much from stock manifold and o/r midpipe to lts and o/r midpipe?

I have noticed an increase in mileage with my Kooks LT's and high flow cats, although it's only been about 3 weeks. I do mostly city driving, and I would stay very consistent on the car's computer at 14.4 MPG, even after several resets. After the install (and a reset) I have been at 15.7 with the same fairly aggressive driving habits. I was pleasantly surprised.

Well I just bought the headers. do I need locking header bolts? or any additional hardware

I have the deluxe interior so I have no computor to remind me of how bad my MPG is!! LOL

My headers have been in for 3 weeks also and I really dont see a difference yet. I have read where cams are the gas hogs not headers.

what kind of MPG's are you getting?

I drive 100% city in a 35 mph zone from my house to work and back....I also drive extremely spiritedly (lots of wheelspin from lights)

and I get 15.5 mpg damn near every single tank...and I've only got 2,960 miles currently. Once the motor gets broken in slightly, I won't be surprised if I see another 1-2 mpg gain.


conversely, my last F-150 was supercharged and got 12.5 mpg on the same commute. That was well worth it. You have to pay to play. As mentioned above, the $$$ of LT's is going to take alot of miles before you see a turn-around.

I get 18-19mpg with 90% city driving. And I would recommend locking header bolts.. I just had to have my headers pulled and gaskets reinstalled because the stock bolts came loose and blew the gaskets.

I've averaging about 16mpg 60city/40highway. On all highway I still get 22-25mpg
