Yep If you only have one. The dealer has to do it. shop around. Previous owner only could find one key. Dealer charged me $95 total. I think the program was around $75 and the key $20 last week. Once you have 2 you can do more yourself.

Most locksmiths now have the machine to program the Ford keys for a hell of a lot cheaper than Ford dealerships. My local Ace Hardware charges less than 50 bucks, and that includes the new key. You can program the remote yourself following these directions:

Get in the car and close the door. Put a working key in the ignition. Lock then unlock the door using the switch on the driver's side. Cycle the key 8 times from "off" to "on" rapidly (without starting the engine) ending with the key in the "on" position. If you did this step correctly, the door locks will automatically cycle to lock then unlock. At this point, press the lock button on ALL of the remotes you plan to use on this car (if you only press the new one, then the old one will no longer work). Remove the key from the ignition. Test each remote for function.

While I'm at it, I might as well post the method for programming a new key if you have TWO working keys. First, have the NEW key mechanically cut. Get in the car and close the door. Put the first WORKING key in the ignition and turn the ignition to "on" (without starting the vehicle) for 3 seconds. Turn key to off and remove. Quickly place the second WORKING key into the ignition and turn the ignition to "on" (without starting the vehicle) for 3 seconds. Turn key to off and remove. Quickly put the NEW key into the ignition and turn key to "on" (without starting vehicle) for 3 seconds. Turn key to off and wait 15 seconds, then remove. WAIT TWO MINUTES and test all keys for function.
