Default 2006 Stock CD Player VS. 2007 Stock CD Player

I have a 2007. I took out the stock CD player and replaced it with another stock CD player from a 2006 Mustang. I did that so I could have a 6 CD changer. Anyway, in doing so, my AUX plug inside the center console no longer works. (I'm guessing because '05 - '06 did not have the AUX input) I have since found that my original 2007 CD player is damaged beyond repair and I am looking to change it back. I have found a 2007 CD player on eBay and I was wondering, if I change it back, will the AUX plug work? Or can I do something now to make the AUX work with the 2006 one that's in there now? Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe that although your '07 wiring still connects to the proper pins on your '06 radio, the '06 radio doesn't have aux input capabilities. I actually bought an '08 Shaker 500 to replace my g/f's '06 Shaker 500. I just haven't had the time to do the swap and wire her pins on the correct plug (yes, the plugs are the same).

You should be able to find an '07 or later Shaker 500 for $50 or less.

I believe on the 2006 stereo, there was an AUX function but you had to purchase an additional module. I think you can buy what Ford calls "trip tunes" so that you can use the feature. However I'm not sure, because it's been awhile since I've had the stock stereo but I know this was true for my '06 Focus.

Okay. So you think if I reconnect the '07, my aux input will work again?

Yes. The 2006 radios were a little different.

Yes, if you plug any 2007-2009 (non-sync) radio into your 2006, the Aux Input will work.

The 07+ have 3 seperate wire looms depending on which radio you have

1. Is main wire bundle with power, speakers
2. Is steeringwheel controls, aux input
3. Is subwoofer/amp

The 05/06 guys should be aware when swapping in newer radios since Ford changed the mounts slightly for the 07+ radios. They fit in the 05-06, but will sit slightly different in the dash.

Awesome. Thanks for the help. I just purchased a 2007 cd player for my 2007. I should have kept better care of my original one... Now, all I need is someone to install it for me
