Unleashed, thanks for the pdf. I've seen the TSB and told them that is what I thought it was (funny, the first dealership had no idea about the TSB). I was wondering how much they are gonna rape me to fix it. Seems like alot of stuff to do, so I am sure it will be a pretty penny
It's an easy fix, but we know how stealerships are with labor rates and time. Too bad you didn't have the resources to repair it yourself, would have saved some coin. The airbag module may of needed to be disconnected and dried out, that may have been a "lucky" fix. Let's hope the SJB didn't get any damage, that might be expensive.

It does suck. If it would have happened 7 months ago, no problem. Now I am in an apartment in a new state.

I didnt think about the airbag either. Glad you mentioned it. I will ask them about it tomorrow when I pick it up if it is still winking at me.

If you have comprehensive coverage, insurance might cover this type of water damage.

yes but if it goes on his insurance claim then it goes on carfax. I wouldn't claim it.

I'm paying out of pocket. Not cuz of the car fax, but cuz my deductible is almost the same cost.

it will not go down as flood damage but a water leak, to constitute flood damage; water needs to be in the motor. This info was from a allstate agent.
If you wanna have it as flooded poor water where the oil goes .

The ironic thing is that a few weeks ago I read through the LONG thread about this and someone posted "its not a matter of if, but when yours will leak."

I thought nah, wont happen to my car

It's so scary when it does happen, I remember the first time I was driving when it happened...there was so much water, it was like a broken dam scene in a movie

I got this from the other thread. Mine looked just like the first video when I started to drive.

Personally I would "pay out of pocket" even if my deductible was 100$ because of car-fax, unless you never plan on selling your car. It really sux that you S197 owners have to go through this, this issue should be a recall, because I know there’s thousands of people that still don't know this issue exists. GL to all you S197 owners!
