Default Changing from 96R to 40R battery

Are these the only things that need changing when switching from the 96R (small) to 40R (large) battery?

1. Remove a couple of plastic pieces from the existing battery tray to accommodate the longer battery.

2. Install a heat shield designed for the longer battery.

I think that everything else (e.g., tray, hold-down bolt/clamp) is the same for both batteries.

Thanks.

That's everything, I did the same last year when my original battery died.

I made this switch when my OE battery went over the rainbow. I didn't bother with the heat shield, I don't think it really does that much. I went with an Interstate Megatron 40R.

Why a larger battery? Do you require more reserve capacity? Is the larger battery cheaper? I'm sure the larger battery weighs more. Just curious why the change in size.

My original Motorcraft battery starting dying after about two years, and was replaced under warranty. If the replacement does not last at least three years, I will probably go with an Interstate battery. As far as I know, Interstate does not sell a Group 96R battery.
