Default Power upgrade questions

I've installed a Ford Racing cold air intake, I've put 3:73 gears in my car, and I still have almost NO performance difference in my car.

I dragged my friends stock mustang and we were side by side the whole drag, although to be fair we were both starting in 2nd gear and my 3:73 gears probably have the greatest effect from 1st gear into 2nd.

Either way, the cold air intake seems to be doing nothing, so i'm wondering if I should try getting a throttle body. I was looking at Ford's M-9926-3V but no matter how much "Google"ing I do, I can't find out how much power this will give me.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on what I can do to get more acceleration? I'm not worried about top speed, but I do drive on the interstate for some trips, so I don't want to be limited to streets only.

The only other option I could think of was a new drive pulley.

Anyways, any tips are appreciated.

If you had used the search feature, you'd have found that a stand-alone CAI is worth maybe 3-5 RWHP on these cars. Plus, I'm surprised you haven't throw a CEL for running lean since the FRPP CAI requires a tune. The only gains from a CAI are with a custom tune. The CAI & tune combo is good for roughly 15-25 RWHP. The tune also improves throttle response and shift firmness (for autos).

Contact Brenspeed or American Muscle regarding getting a tune for that FRPP CAI. The FRPP tune is garabage (as are the canned SCT and Diablo tunes) compared to Brenspeed and AM.

UDP's are good for freeing up about 3-5 RWHP as is an aluminum DS. There are a few other nickle and dime HP mods but the CAI & tune combo is the biggest bang short of going FI or adding Nitrous.

The stock TB does as well as any aftermarket TB unless you're heavily modded (FI and other internal mods). And if you mention TB spacer someone will shoot you.

Nuke said it all. Call Brenspeed, get a tune, and be done with it.

without a tune that intake is probably hurting you more than helping and your speedometer is going to be off since you put the 3.73s in

If you didn't get a tune, you didn't help yourself. You will see a substantial difference with a tune.

I had the CAI tuned by the Ford Dealership with Ford Racing's ProCal tool. Is that good or bad?

Also the gears were tuned by the guys that installed them too, using the same calibrator

You should get an Xcal3 programmer and a tune from American Muscle, Brenspeed, or somebody like that.

There is no tuning from the gears except that it changes your speedometer show that it shows the right speed.

Who installed the gears? I'm curious there because I'd like a 3.73 upgrade. Do they whine? The stealership quoted me $1,400 parts and labor for 3.73 gears. Basically 3x what everybody else charges. And I don't even know if they'd do it right (no whine).

I had mine done by a local company called exhaust world. They did the install for $150 bucks. No whine.

The dealership quoted me $700 for install (I bought the parts myself through R & E racing)

Surprising, really. I noticed a decent gain with my BBK cold air intake with no tune, but then again, different brand. You get a custom tune, as said, from American Muscle or somewhere, you'll notice the difference right away
