I just want to tune my car.. Help?

Alright, bump for a great update!
Turns out Eric did in fact need a copy of the stock tune, which was done just as hammeron suggested. He's writing my tune as I type this.
Major props to Eric Brooks, anyone willing to work with a customer at 11:00 PM is absolutely great. I'm looking forward to the very first go-fast mod to the 'Stang, and I'll update everyone when I get the tune installed.
My only problem.. I requested the tune be written for 89 octane, and I just filled my car up with 87, thinking this issue would take far longer than it did. Time for a long drive to waste some gas? I think so.

gman, that was a bit of a decision for me. I'm currently living with my parents for the summer, and we live in a smaller town. There aren't any big-name gas stations around here, and I didn't really want to take the risk of having issues with a high octane tune and not having the quality of gas I need. I plan on getting a 91/93 tune further down the road if I do any more extensive mods, such as cams/headers. For now, I'm going to see if a tune and gears will appease me.
Nuke, I was thinking about that last night, actually. I had a little less than 1/2 talk of 89 before I filled up last night, so I was thinking about filling up with 91/93 when I make my 40-mile commute and run a few errands; I should be down to about 3/4 at the end of the day. Think that'd work, or should I wait until I'm down to 1/2?
hammeron, thanks for your help and words of encouragement. It definitely was a frustrating process, but I think it'll be worth it in the end. I'm just itching to go out there and let my car idle for an hour and waste gas.

With an existing 3/4 tank of approx. 88 octane (your prior 50-50 mix of 87 and 89), you're mixing about 4 gallons of 91 or 93 which would put you darn near or above 89 and again, good to go. The Stang can adjust for a minor deviation in octane. If it pings, drive easy another 1/4 tank and then tank up again with 93.
You may want to consider keeping an 87 custom tune (which still kicks azz over the stock 87) on-hand if you do any road trips. I've had a few instances where I could only get 87 while on the road.

Well, time for the final update. Got the tune loaded up, got some 89 octane in the tank, and all I can say is "wow." I had heard great things about the potentials of a custom tune, but I was more than surprised. Eric Brooks does a great job and is an all-around great guy, very professional. I'd recommend him to anyone. I can't wait to get a few more go-fast mods for the 'Stang, it truly is addicting. However, that has to wait, as the new wheels and tires just went on.
Thanks, all, for the advice and encouragement. Glad to be part of the non-stock crew!
