Trans Tunnel Temp

Trans Tunnel Temp
Hey guys, Just got my new GT and I have noticed that the trans tunnel area behind the stereo near the firewall and in a spot next to the driver and passenger seats become quite hot after I drive the car. The metal of the body behind the stereo was hot enough that I couldn't hold my finger on it for more than a few seconds. Is this common? or do you think the previous owner may have removed some heat shielding to fit the exhaust or something?

Surprised you got no answers on this, becuase mine does the same thing. Perhaps our Screaming Yellow Mustangs are so visually hot, they literally create some heat!
I do notice that my legs feel a little warm on longer drives.

Well....about that. I don't have any cat's :P. I think the exhaust is just touching the body. I confirmed that it does have the shielding (POS sheet of metal). I think I might just take it in the boot and buy some exhaust wrap and do that area. It just worries me how hot it has been getting. I plan to gut the interior to do sound deadening (and put the interior back in) so that will help with temp too. Just not use to having the extra heat from 2 cylinders :P. Now I just need to replace the current flowmaster mufflers with some flowmaster delta flow. The current ones have bezels that vibrate and sound like poo
