Default Two trans issues...need input

I have a 2007 Shelby GT with 5sp trans. The car only has 16,000 miles on it. I have two issues with the transmission that I would like input on. First, I have mild clutch chatter only in 1st gear. When the car is on level ground and you slowly let the clutch out with little to no throttle, the clutch grabs and gives the “sensation” that the car is going to stall out. It is just a slight chatter. The second issue I have that is driving me nuts is that when I let the clutch out in reverse or in 1st I get singular metal pop sound. This sound also happens again if say you are in 2nd and give it some gas and then let off the throttle and the car kind of catches up to itself the pop occurs again. I actually took it into the dealer and they said there was nothing wrong with the car. Well they didn’t really say that, I actually took the service manager for a ride to make sure he knew what I was talking about and he also noticed the chatter and the pop sound but stated he didn’t want to tear into my transmission if that’s all that was wrong. They feel that it is with-in normal operations I guess. Other than these two issues, I must say it shifts and drives very smooth. Anyone had this pop sound before? I am kind of thinking maybe something with the pressure plate or slave cylinder. Any help would be great!

My '06 is the same, I've been driving stick shifts for over 50 years and this car is the hardest to get rolling from a stop without sounding like a newbie.....either reving and slipping or bucking as the clutch is engaged. (Lack of low end torque)

I believe the "popping" is backlash in the transmission, not sure if it's normal since I haven't driven that many.

+1, I have a similar chatter but mine does it when idling and the car in neutral its like a rattling noise, when I push the clutch in regardless of what gear I'm in it will stop.

I agree, sounds like your technique is a little off. Just a few more revs as you engage the clutch and you're Golden. My wife drives like you describe in her car and it crazes me, I'm like jeeeeesus, give the poor thing some gas..

The 'popping' sound you describe is probably the driveline backlash in the driveshaft and rear end. It's nothing to worry about, all RWD cars have it to some degree.

Ditto on the chatter. The more experienced I became with my STang (not my DD ) the less chatter I experienced. The dealership said it was normal for a "high performance clutch" (in other words, they didn't want to deal with it).

Can't say that I noticed the "pop".

If you have ever worked on your suspension I would check the connections. That could be a your popping source.

IN my 84 5.0, I thought I had broken something in the rearend. We looked and looked and discovered it was a cracked bushing on a shock.

Well here's my main concern....

Number 1 - I have been driving manual for years...

Number 2 - I bought a 2005 GT new and drove it till it had 52,000 miles on it and traded it on this 2007....So compared to my 2005, this transmission and clutch drive vastly different...this is why I was concerned....my 2005 was very smooth on flat ground and you could feather the clutch and it would not chatter at all....also....not pop when releasing the clutch....

I can drive this one with no chatter if I give the car ample throttle(like 1500 rpms)...but a car with this much torque should be able to let the clutch out with minimal gas....
