Default need help on rim size

so i still have stock 17in bullit rims and i wanted to go with the black bullets from american muscle. 18x9 all around. I've heard from ppl with 20 inches how they feel so much slower or whatever when they go from 17's but if i go to 18's will I feel less performance (slower) or could it actually help with any traction issues i already have. I only got cai/tune and i spin easily. I know some nitto will help but what can i expect when i get these 18's.

Most rim material and design affects how much it weighs... My buddy's black chrome 20's from wheel replicas are actually lighter then his 17" fan blades. You shouldn't feel much of anything just going up 1 inch. If your're having traction issues go with 18X 10 and run some 275-285 tires.

I went from my stock 17" rims with 235/55/17 Pirelle P Zero Nero to
18 x 10 rears with 285/40/18 Nitto 555 Extremes and
18 x 9 fronts with 245/40/18 Nitto 555 Extremes, car hooks up better and feels faster, and my 5 spoke Saleens definitely felt lighter then the OEM split 5 spokes that I had.

I like the looks of my 20 inch foose nitrous wheels, sure they are heavy, but the traction is very nice...If you dropped some cash on a lightweight forged 20 inch rim, you could still get some solid performance...I don't have a supercharger or any serious power, so I'm not worried about being super fast, just quick.

17" Bullitts are 21.5 lbs
18" Polished Bullitts are 25 lbs
18" Chrome Bullitts are 26.5 lbs
18" Fanblades are 27 lbs
18" GT500 Wheels(07 - 09) are 29 lbs

The increased mass would have to two fold before
one would notice that it takes more force to get
them spinning and to get them stopped.
Where you feel the added wheel weight is in the
unsprung weight department and the slightly
different handling over bumps.
Then there is the gyro effect that increases with increased mass....

You can put 255's all the way around on those 18 x 9's. With a decent rubber compound, you should be able to hook-up better even with just the CAI & tune. Most everyone will spin the mediocre stock tires easily especially with the CAI & tune.
