It would still never be emissions legal without a proper OBD2 connection for the PCM to transmit data.

I'm sure one can rig it up to comply.
Depending on the State, it can go from no worry (FL, no inspections of any kind) or a PITA, like CA.

yeah, don't even think about it... sell the car and buy a GT, you would end up saving alot of money/headaches.

as for carbs?
I wouldn't ditch my new modern fuel injection, variable cam timing, easy tuning, reliability, etc

I can see everything you say except reliability. Not sure why an old school setup would be any less reliable. Less things to go wrong=less things going wrong lol. Fuel+air+spark=smile.

well reliability as in turn the key and the car starts, no pain with the choke, cold days, higher/lower elevation, etc
