I got a 2010 V6 shaker as well. Dealer just says that nothing is wrong even though the steering wheel shakes back and forth they just say it is road noise coming through. I can feel the shimmy in the seat of my pants. Some days are worse than others. This is my 3rd set of tires and have went through 5 or 6 times at the road force balancer and it still does it so the problem is NOT with tires and balancing. Car has been to 2 different dealers 5 or 6 times for this issue and finally the dealer that I bought the car from refuses to even discuss the issue with me anymore. I have not driven any other 2010's to compare them to my car as the dealer would not let me do the comparison but my 2001 Bullitt and my '07 V6 vert both drove perfectly at speed. My problem starts at between 45-60mph. We had a major verbal blowout where he tried to lord me around and treat me like I was his child. I told him he had better think again. There is no fix for this problem that ford is willing to investigate. It's a major PITA.

Have they tried different wheels?

No I asked them to take the wheels off another mustang to test it with me and they refused. The wheels all check out on the hunter road force machine anyway. I'm sure it's something with the suspension or some kind of aerodynamic anomaly on certain cars.

I have been fighting the same problem on my 2008 with all Steeda Suspension parts.

Had it in a shop and they think the pinion angle from the U-Joint back to the CV is off on my drive shaft. He said the pinion on the back half of the 2 piece DS is where it should be but the front half is off. Which is strange because that is factory set.

The shop is going to build a spacer to lower the CV joint slightly to see if he can get the DS in-line better and hopefully eliminate the vibration out of the 2 piece DS that way.

We are going to try it and if it does not improve then he will remove it.

He is doing it for free and wants to come up with a solution too. Apparently a lot of Mustang owners have this issue.

UPDATE -

"unable to reproduce" They said they took it to 85 twice and it was smooth. Total BS.

I am going to try another set of wheels/tires another local club member graciously offered to let me use as a test.

Can't say I'm surprised as they say that to everyone. Steering wheel wobbles back and forth like an egg but it's smooth...

I doubt the swap of wheels and tires will fix it either. I have had 3 sets of tires on mine and all of them did it. I tried to get the dealer to temporarily put on the wheels and tires of another mustang but at that point the service manager was being a total dick and was not willing to do anything else for me. The problem goes way beyond wheels and tires anyway imo. Let us know how it works out.

I drove another 2011 GT on the lot today and it was much smoother than my car on the same roads. It too had a bit of shimmy at times and above 80mph but it was overall much better.

My salesman has asked that I lodge a complaint with Ford corporate.

Well with any luck your tires are just flat spotted from sitting too long on their lot. My original tires were seriously flat spotted and when they were replaced it made a noticeable difference in the smoothness of the car but the steering wheel still wobbles slightly when approaching 60mph. I can feel the wobble in the steering wheel and in the seat of my pants. The dealer says it's normal behavior. I say it's not. I never did file a complaint with Ford as they will just give you the runaround as well and at best send an FSE to your dealer who will then just tell you that it is normal behavior. I came to the conclusion that a lemon law lawyer is the only way to go but I have not been willing to go that route because the problem isn't bad enough but it certainly is a nuisance and I shouldn't have to put up with this on a $32k list car bought new...

Yet another update.

I spent another $100 today (Total $240 on this shimmy) at an exotic car shop today that deals in Ferraris and Lambos.

They balanced the tires on a brand new Hunter GSP9700 roadforce balancer.

Roadforce was as follows 29,26,9,6, the machine said up to 40 was within limits but 29 is a hell of a lot more than 6 and I think those two tires are causing the issue.

Some wheels took 3oz to balance.

STILL A VIBRATION!

Tomorrow morning I am driving 150 miles round trip to try out a take off set of 19"s from a 2010 GT that the owner said drove perfect over 80mph.

IF my cars drives fine with them I will buy them and be done with it.

IF my car still has vibes with them I think I will have to be trading it in I am sorry to say as I do not think it will ever get fixed though I will try another dealer or two first and maybe call corporate.

If it is not the tires, then it is probably Drive Shaft. Thats what mine look's like. Funny thing is that it is the front 1/2 of the Drive Shaft that seem to be the issue with mine. Factory installed and fabricated like everyone else', supposedly.

Going next week to have a spacer put in for the CV support to get it in the proper alignment (pinion angle).

I will take pictures and document what we do and the results.
