Today with my road forced balanced tires the car shook like a leaf on the way to get my new wheels, at times I could not exceed 55mph.

I now have new (used 2k miles) 19" painted luster nickel wheels from a 2010 GT, still factory balanced.

My car now rides much better, however there is still some vibration over 80mph, much better than it was but not perfect. The previous owner stated that these wheels had no vibration on his car at 80
+mph. On the bright side the 19”s look outstanding on the car!

So I have now spent $1165 ($925 wheels, $240 on 3 balances on old wheels/tires)on this vibration and still the car is not perfect. I am never going to get any help from the dealer unless they can "duplicate" the issue.

I drove the guys 2010 GT that I bought the wheels from and it had a similar vibration at high speed as did the brand new 2011 GT I drove at the dealer. I am starting to think it is a ”feature” of these cars and maybe I am too sensitive. I do know that my wife’s 2010 Honda CR-V is MUCH more smooth at 90mph than my GT.

I do not think it is drive shaft or trans/engine related as putting the AUTO trans into neutral at 80mph makes no change.

I guess the next step will be to try another dealer.

I wish you luck arg. If you read the thread about steering wheel shake that went 19 or so pages then you will see that many of us tried the multiple dealer route and in the end our cars still shake. My car is 'good enough' but is nowhere near perfectly smooth at 60+mph. My 2007 vert was smooth as silk at any speed. So was my 01 bullitt. I wish you luck but in the end you will see that dealers are going to tell you that everything seems fine to them. If it really bothers you then a lemon lawyer is probably your only route unless you want to take the hit on the trade.

i just noticed the same thing on my 2011 today, I think its my rear tires as I lowered my tire pressure to 30 PSI and did a hard launch playing with a shelby, and after that my car would wobble at 70 plus MPH, so I think I may have slipped the bead or somthing, ill have to check it out tomorrow...

My 2010 GT w/ factory 19" wheels is smoother at 100 mph than my 2008 was with 17" at 60 mph....I hope it stays that way!

I read that thread at least three times.

The only saving grace in all of this is that my commute which I use this car for is 12 miles each way on all back roads where I usually do not get over 45mph on and the car drives perfect.

Yep that's the same thing for me too arg. My commute is half stop and go where I never exceed 45mph and the other half with few lights where I never exceed 55mph. I would have without a doubt started the lemon law process by now had I had to drive this car on the highway the majority of the time. I use my '10 focus for any major trips that I take anyway although I learned on Friday that it has to have the tranny yanked this week to repair the chattering noise that I am getting unless the clutch is pressed. Press the clutch and the noise goes away. Bad bearing or something going on in there most likely. I swear whoever said Ford quality has improved was telling a joke. I am seriously considering writing Ford HQ a stern and disapproving letter this week about my luck with their new cars.

Interesting tidbit, the shimmy is MUCH STRONGER when SPORT MODE is enabled. The sport mode must change the EPS settings.

I don't have a sport mode in mine and there is not a single thing that I can pin down which causes my shimmy to get worse. Out of te blue for no reason it will start and then die down just as quick as it started. Some kind of feedback from the road surface into the wheels maybe. Temperature makes no difference either.
