Alternator Replacement

Alternator Replacement
I think mine is going out. I have the shaker 1000 and other acceseries I run so I think I need a 200 amp alternator, which is what I think the car comes with. Not sure. If anyone could chime I would apreciate it.
If anyone knows of a good price, that would great too.
Thanks.

250 amps alternator.
Summit sells them too, but nothing is cheaper than $350/400.
You might find one cheaper but expect to pay no less that $200 for one of those.
Also, I'm not 100% sure about this but it's worth checking... I believe that 04/10 Crown Vics police interceptors cars use the same alternators casing than our Stangs.
That would be great because you could hunt down one of those in bone yards and they're good for 250 amps as well.

The stock alternator is NOT 200 amps. I believe it is a 130 amp alternator that has been reported to have problems. You could go with a high quality alternator from someone like PA Performance, as without a bunch of aftermarket stereo equipment you won't need the extra amperage. If you're set on having a 200 amp alternator I've heard of people grabbing alternators from late model Expeditions and changing the orientation of the casing to make it fit.
