Default Possible to get an 06 GT as fast as a 2011 without getting a s/c?

Just curious is there any way to make my 2006 GT at least as fast as the 2011s without adding a turbo or supercharger?

Would 4:10 gears, cold air induction, and a tune make it as fast?

Gears, CAI and tune are all good mods but sadly, you wouldn't even be close to the new 5.0 power levels.

Far as making 412 hp flywheel, it's POSSIBLE I think but we are talking some serious work. Heads, FRPP intake, long tubes, pulleys, delete plates, every single bolton and even then, I doubt it hit that high....

I have the majority of bolt on's on my car and I'm making 320 rwhp.

Just my .02 :-)

Possible, yes. Easy/economical, probably no.

Not even close. It'll take all the bolt-ons (CAI & tune, cams, LT's, O/R X or H, gears, UDP's, aluminum DS, etc) to be looking at MAYBE 340 or so RWHP unless you stroke and bore. And by then you may have well dumped enough money in to have gone FI...

Face it, onegoal, we have 5.0 envy.

I don't see that making it as fast as a 2011. I mean it'll certainly bring you closer, but without FI you likely aren't going to be putting down enough rwtq and rwhp to keep up...not to mention that of course plenty of '11s will be loaded out with CAIs and Tunes as well.

If you want more speed though, and I know you do, and you can't afford the '11, then you should throw the 4.10 gears, CAI and tune onto it. At the very least it'll give you the feel you want in your car.

Yeah with all the N/A bolt on usual suspects, you'd be around 335-350 rwhp depending. This would cost you right around $5000 with professional install. I know this because I've been e-mailing with Brenspeed about a hypothetical N/A build. While you could get a supercharger for about a grand more than this, the N/A build would be pretty cool with the cams and muscle car characteristics... and the car would be fairly beastly in general. You also wouldn't have to really worry about grenading an engine or tranny like you would with a blower. If I ever decide to upgrade this thing to any extent, this may be the route I go simply for the sake of it being different. I've already had a blower on a Mustang once...

For the price it will cost you to reach 5.0 levels of performance, you could just go buy one. Although, I personally think regardless of raw numbers that a blown or fully setup N/A 05-10 has way more coolness factor than a factory stock 5.0. Just depends on what your goals are...

Anytime you ask an engine to do more than it was designed to, you risk grenading an engine. You don't get more power without increasing cylinder pressures, NA or Forced Induction. How you get that extra power can determine the longevity of an engine to a certain extent, but taking a 4.6 and turning it into a 400+hp machine, whether its FI or not, is asking it to do more than it may want to.

Technically, yes. The odds of you grenading something being N/A at 350rwhp? Far more unlikely than pushing 440-500rwhp on a stock block with a blower. IMHO, of course.

I figured it wouldn't be worth it. I'll just save up and hopefully will be able to get a Camaro SS or the 5.0 next year.

if you bored your motor out to a 5.0 with a nice set of heads and cams you will pretty close
