Default Another problem......

starting a couple days back i have had a "thumping" noise from what i believe originates from the passenger side front corner. This is a noise that is proportional to how fast i am going for example:

at 20 mph it is a thump..........thump.............thump........Thum p

then at 40 it would be thump..thump..thump..thump

and whenever i am pushing my brakes the noise disappears. there is no steering wheel feed back that i noticed... i am seriously stumped on this one.......

I'd think a bearing and a tire problem wouldn't stop thumping when the brakes are applied so...

I was going to say....you have a rock in your tire tread, but then you said it stops when you push the brakes. DOH!

Thought I had the cure.

the problem is still persisting. i noticed that the noise only occurs on some roads, on others the car is whisper quiet.

i just got back from a track weekend and there were no "physical" problems when driving at the limit, the noise is just ridiculously annoying. any suggestions are appreciated

Have you checked your lug nuts? Loose lugs will do exactly this.

yup got them all torqued to 92 ft-lb for the track. since they are cheapo pep-boys lug nuts maybe they have "worn out" ?

grasping at straws here, maybe the tire has some sort of failure. Move it to the back and see if the thump follows the tire?
