FWIW, 285's are as wide a tire that MOST tire manufacturers recommend on a 9.5" wheel (the SVT 2007 GT500 wheels are 9.5"; not sure about the newer 2010 GT500's) although you should be fine as long as you're not doing any significant, abnormally hard cornering.
I bought GT500 rims with worn out tires, so I had the tires replaced, and the sensors reused. I figured it needed to be re-calibrated to sync with my new set up, but I honestly forgot there was a sync tool out there. Basically, what everyone suggests is getting the sync tool? Any other options? $35 isn't expensive, just want to know all my options.

Also, I've heard many different opinions on the tire size. Many people say it's fine. There is someone running 305/45/18 on this board, so I figured 295/45/18 would be perfect. I'm only not planning on cornering hard, ever, nonetheless on a constant basis.

Um, not sure about that... but it DOES have a RF transmitter in it so the car knows what sensor its communicating with. I dont know where your getting your info / procedure, but as 157 would say;

This stuff is easily researched online at places like Tire Rack, Nitto, Discount Tire, etc. You just have to look for the specs pages for the tire model and see what sizes are listed for fit to your width wheels, or perhaps what width wheels you need for a given size tire. I'd suggest looking it up after you get an internet opinion anyway. No matter whose it might be.

FWIW, 305/45-18 is also OK'd on a 9,5" wide rim by Nitto for the NT555R (but the 305/40-18 is not). This does not guarantee that everybody else's 305/45-18 is OK on 9.5" as well, so you'd have to look up each 305/45-18 individually.

... which is why I stated "MOST" tire manufacturers.

And a button one the front 'activate' the "magnet"...
And a battery and transistors and diodes and capacitors
and resistors and RF chokes and a circuit board and a
Programmable Instruction Controller and
on and on...

but its just a simple magnet that you hold up against the tire...

Maybe there's a need to degauss our wheels that we don't know about...

I think I'll have that done when I have my muffler bearings replaced.

I purchased the tool, and came to find out that the car does not beep when trying to train the left front tire. Every other tire works, but the first one.

Could this be a bad sensor? Is there anything else I should try?

Are you doing this in the proper order?
If so, try all the different ways Ford says to get the sensor
to respond to the tool.
Are you placing the tool in the proper orientation to the TPMS sensor?
If so, the sensor could be bad. What DTCs if any are you throwing.

Yes, I've already gone through all of those processes, thank you though. I was afrai that it was a bad sensor.

Do not purchase anything off of Mike Ramirez.

He first sold me these rims with 4 tires, and two of them having 25% tread left, and one side did in fact have that much tread, and the other side had probably -105% tread, he definitely smoked the tires before sending it to me, you could see the internal working of the tires. Now, one of the sensors is bad. It also took him over two weeks to ship this item, after he said it would take up to 2-3 days.

For the amount I saved by purchasing these off of him, I could have simply bought brand new rims and tires for nearly the same amount. He jerked another guy around just like me. So be aware of him.
