Default TPMS Goes Off

I have had my GT500 rims installed, with new 295/45/18 tires about 50 miles ago before the sensor went off.

Could this be due to the installer damaging the sensor? Not giving the tire enough air pressure? Or is it possibly due to the stock tires being 285, and this is 295? Any help would be appreciated.

I will measure my tire pressure by days end. I just need to find the tool.

So the light is now on, or off?

Prolly when you switch the stockys for the GT500 rims you gotta sync the sensors with the car..Unless you allready has these on with the sensor, if so you prolly dont have enough tire pressure.

^^^ Exactly sounds like you installed the wheels with the sensors from the previous car. You must train those sensors to the BCU in your vehicle. The reset procedure is pretty basic. The vehicle has a reset procedure and all you need is a proper magnet.

Did your GT500's come with sensors installed, or did they swap the sensors from your old wheels into the GT500's or did they forget and not install ANY sensors? I suspect you didn't let them forget the sensors and now they just need to be recalibrated to communcicate with the PCM.

FWIW, 285's are as wide a tire that MOST tire manufacturers recommend on a 9.5" wheel (the SVT 2007 GT500 wheels are 9.5"; not sure about the newer 2010 GT500's) although you should be fine as long as you're not doing any significant, abnormally hard cornering.

I must have missed something cause the last sensors I retrained had a pretty good procedure... one using a transmitter though and locating all 4 tires, I never saw anything about a procedure with a magnet.

I seem to recall that the warning lamp can be either steady or flashing to indicate different problems. There should be something in the OM about this (mine isn't handy at the moment).

One or more missing sensors, sensor damage during the mounting process, insufficient pressure, and different sensors not trained could all be possible reasons.

Just having 295/45 tires on a couple of them is not.

Nuke - a 295/45 kind of "scrapes by" on a 9.5" rim by virtue of its having a taller sidewall. For this size, 9.5" to 11" is recommended/approved in most cases.

Um, what Ford has to say about it....

Also the Owners Manual will explain what the dash indicator is trying to tell you....

Even if your new wheels had sensors installed the indicator will go off after a few miles. You probably just need to retrain the sensors with the "tool".

That tool that you hold up against the wheel has a magnet in it.
