fixing e-brake w/o replacing cable?
The TSB for stuck e-brake says to replace both cables and pray you don't end up with the same problem in a few years. (Ok, so I added the last part.)
Has anyone come up with a fix that doesn't involve replacing the cables? My thought is that it might be possible to remove the existing cables, file off any burrs/rust, and reinstall them with a tighter-fitting grommet and some lubrication.
The cables on my new-to-me '05 Stang are stuck in the off position, which I guess is better than the opposite.

Without looking at the brake cable config for a long time, I was wondering about the lubrication part as being a semi-temporary fix (probably need to clean and reapply at some frequency) to the issue as a way to keep the moisture out.
Another option is to move south like I did...

Mine are also both stuck on the off position... Ive been spraying the crap out of them. Just dont pull hard on the ebrake because my front cable snapped from that. Let me know if you come up with a fix because I really dont feel like changing both the rear cables

I will take it apart this weekend and see what sanding the cable and lubing accomplishes.

if youre going to take it apart, I would just spend the 90 bucks and change them
