Default INFO ABOUT THEFTALARM 2005

HI,

I have the mustang 2005 gt with the theft alarm, but can somebody tell me what that alarm exactly does.....because when you enter the window there are no alarm/sirene.

Do you get in The USA a certifcate for your alarm? in The Netherlands you have to show the certificate for the insurrance companys

Thanks

Just to be sure...check the area where your dome lights are located. If there aren't two little circles (sensors) on the rear flat edge you do not have it. I have an '05 as well without it and the manual was unclear about it. I had to check the post about HOW TO SWAP map-light with LED before I really knew what the sensors were supposed to look like. I have never been asked for a certificate.

Those sensors are for the active alarm system. Unless you order it, the Mustang comes with a passive alarm system.

do not have it then you do not have it
do a VIN # search and see the window sticker for your stang
and see if the anti-theft system was installed at the factory.
Maybe find a Owners manual online (they are online nowdays)
or try the Online Ford Workshop Manual...

There is no alarm certificate for the insurance companies over here in the states.

Just wait until you loose your keys and have to learn all about the
PassiveAntiTheftSystem.

Not sure about the 2005 models, but my 2007 comes with the factory alarm system. Sensors include:

1. Doors, Trunk, Hood
2. Interior Motion Sensors (sensors by the map lights)
3. Inclinometer (detects if car is jacked up)

Different sensors are activated depending on how you lock the vehicle. The key FOB (remote controller on key chain) arms all the sensors after about 20 seconds. Manually locking the doors with the key arms only the doors, trunk and hood switches.

Once the system is armed, intrusion activates the horn, which makes a lot of noise. I am not sure if anything else is done to disable the ignition when the alarm goes off.

I did not receive any type of certificate with the factory alarm system.
