Default Another 5.4 swap question..

Alright, I've been reading around, looking for a clear, concise answer. I've been told there are multiple threads on the 4.6 3v to 5.4 4v swap, but I haven't found any of them, at least none with working links.

So, school me on the swap. Grab an early '00's Navigator motor, maybe throw some Ford GT cams in, possibly put the stock GT500 blower on, yada yada. Obviously, there's more to it than that, so enlighten me. What do I need to do to make this work? Where are these elusive threads that explain it all?

And, please, don't tell me to build my 4.6 and/or blow it. That isn't feasible for me.

just try a 5.4 3v swap. it's almost a 100% plug & play job for a GT.

here is a link to one of those swaps that is pretty much spelled out

edit: if it's any consolation, I've been trying to find a good 5.4 4v swap thread myself. it hasn't really been done recently, and the old "pioneers" threads are broken as you've already found

mustangcollective got hacked last year and most of their old good stuff got lost. I haven't been able to find the good stuff over there for awhile.

booshezy had a donor car and did a 1 for 1 swap. I've been looking for a 4.6 3v to a 5.4 4v motor swap with just a motor available. not the entire car. wish I could be that lucky

Yeah, I really haven't found anything good, aside from people saying "a 3v is pretty much a direct swap." I want to see some numbers from some cam/head work, weight difference, compatibility with other GT components, etc.

I've been thinking about picking up a 3v, porting the heads, some VSR cams, the JPC intake manifold and possibly upping the CR to 11:1 with some flat-top pistons. I'm not trying to build a crazy beast of a motor, but I'd like a 400/400 N/A motor, if at all possible.

Agreed, that would be the easiest way to go. The other way would be to get a GT-500 that maybe wrecked on the side or rear and swap everything over, motor, trans, wiring harness etc...

Yes, that's the beauty of the Modular family, bellhousing bolt patterns are the same (except for FWD such as Continentals).
