Around here most of the 2011 GT premiums loaded up are not even going for 38k. Most are going around mid 34k range to 37k.
Regardless if your gt you just bought was a 2011 I still wouldn't have paid 38k for it.
Didn't you try talking them down at all?
Not trying to hurt your feelings at all. Just trying to help. I'm only 26 but I know how to buy cars watching how my dad does. Especially if you live in a urban area and there are a lot of dealers. If the dealer doesn't want to come down to a reasonable offer or jacks around on trade in vaule you get up and walk. Their loss. Dealers look for people who don't haggle and don't do their homework and sucker them in.
Always important to do research before buying to make sure the next model year isn't going to be changing.

Mines just a deluxe with an auto, but I bought it around the same time as you for $23k. It stickered for $29,800~. They did have a red premium with the glass roof that was totally decked out, and I could have bought that thing for like 28-29 ish.
I don't know what your msrp was, but unless it was about 45 grand, I'd say you got raped. You can not only buy a 2011 5.0 for 38k, but a pretty nice one at that...
The best advice I can give is to just enjoy the car. The 2010s are awesome, and you got a loaded out one. You'll be so far upside-down on the loan to value that unless you're rich and have money to burn, you're stuck with it for a few years.

We've all been screwed on a car purchase at least once in our lives... **** happens.. enjoy the car, what can you do...
Don't feel so bad, it happened to me to a few years ago when I went in to buy a Toyota for my then-wife.. It was worse, I got screwed buying a F'n Corolla, lol...
I don't want to hijack this guy's thread, but I just started another thread on a 2010 I am going to go see..and that price seems attractive that you paid.. Can you go on my thread and tell me more on the deal? I got a q or 2 for you.

I'm 50 & I've been buying cars for a long time. I never pay anywheres near sticker. I always buy this time of year when the rebates are maximum. Here's a few examples:
Bought the wife's '08 Expedition in Sep of '08. $6500 rebate, $3500 for X-Plan.
Bought my '09 GT in July of '09. $4500 rebate, almost $3000 for X-Plan.
Bought the 2010 GT this week. $5000 rebate, $3000 for X-Plan & college student discount.
I'm a member of Disabled American Vets so I get X Plan, which saves $2000-3000 depending on options on the car. If you push hard enough, your dealer will find an X Plan PIN# from someone so you can get the discount. If they won't, find another dealer. There's no greater power at a dealer than getting up & walking out. You didn't really get screwed too bad. They made their $$ off of you, but don't beat yourself up too bad. Ya gotta know how to play the game!

It also depends on the financing. 0% means every dollar you pay is going towards principle, so you'll cut into that principle pretty quickly. Your options are big rebate, or small rebate + low interest rate. I tend to trade or sell cars every few years, so I like to look at which option will set me up to be in the best position to do that 3 or 4 years down the road. Also, if you take the rebates, have the dealer look for the best interest rate at a local bank. Ford Motor Credit isn't the only option. FMC's rates are almost always higher. Most bank web sites have loan calculators. Find one & plug the #'s in so you can see which option is best for you over the life of the loan.

You have to factor in interest rate like the last guy said. They are not going to give you 0% once they knock of 7 grand, so in the long run it might not have been that bad. I did the same thing as you, only I bought back in April.
You live and learn, enjoy the car and forget about it.
