05 V6 Dynoing?

The problem is that on the 05 model V6 the bearing caps for the U joint are staked in. The speed limiter is set for 113 I believe. The problem did show itself on the dyno with an X charger being tuned. The bearing caps came apart and the shaft followed suit in short order. The 06 and later shafts have c clips to secure the bearing caps, no failures of this configuration have been reported. So you see it's not the bolts causing the problem. I have since replaced my05 shaft with an aluminum shaft, not because of the bearing caps but because of vibration. The new shaft is vibration free and I don't have to worry about my x charger causing the shaft to fail under stress. But to answer your question if you inspect the shaft prior to a dyno pull and the caps are still in their original location I doubt you will have a problem. My car has numerous pulls on it with the stock shaft, I didn't have a problem.

I have gone in excess of 113 in my 2005 v6 and shortly after that I noticed a bad shake at speeds in excess of ~70mph... could it be the driveshaft coming loose causing this? I figured it to by a balancing issue with the tires but after reading this I am starting to worry that it is the stock driveshaft... any input?

when I say shake I mean a violent shake... lol... like the passenger seat is noticeably shaking if nobody is sitting in it... don't notice it to much in the driver's seat but that's because I'm sitting in it and my hand is on the wheel... but the shake is definitely there... but if it's a normal shake then I'm cool with it... lol... I just don't want it to be something bad like a driveshaft about to go

wheels are fine... might be a rotor issue... they look to be the original ones... they aren't worn too bad but they could be warped due to heat... pretty sure it's not a bent wheel... nothing has happened to cause one the bend or anything... I'll check the rotors first... a lot cheaper to fix that if it is the problem... thanks for the input... didn't mean to jack your thread

Vibration at speed
Was the reason I ultimately replaced my stock shaft. My car vibrated like crazy at speeds over 85. The aluminum shaft cured that, and i have twisted it way past 110 without incident. The stock shaft is a heavy piece of junk with an unsupported joint in the middle of it, no wonder it vibrates. Bad design....
