Question Wheel/Tire question.

Right now I am running 18x10's all the way around.

I was thinking about switching to 18x9's up front
If I went with a new set of wheels that had 18x9 up front
and 18x10 in back, could I keep the 275/40/18 tires I have up front or would they not fit well/look well?

I am saying having the 18x9's up front, the 18x10's in back,
and 275/40/18 tires on ALL of them.

Reason being is I am just trying to save from having to buy
two new tires but I won't sacrifice saving money for
fitment/look issues though.
That's why I am asking.

Thanks!

Check the specs for your tires to see what the recommended wheel width range is. I suspect that 275's on a 9" wheel may be pushing it by most tire manufacturers standards. I know that most manufacturers recommend no wider than 285's for my 9.5" wide wheels.

Looks like I will have to buy new tires to go with the front wheels.

I may just go ahead and by a whole new set of tires and get
305's in the back to fatten the look up some too.

This will be something that will have to be done a good time from now though.
Don't have the spending dough.

Maybe I could just buy two 305 tires and change the look without spending so
much on wheels and tires both?

Would 305's fit well on a 18x10 wheel?

You have 275s all the way around? Pics of 275 on the front? I'm curious lol.

Ehh you can somewhat tell they are wide, how bad do they rub? My 255's on 18' Fanblades rubs if I cut it all the way to the right.

I have NO rubbing issues at all.
It's all about the offset and tire size in front.
My offset is 42

And also on what your car was originally equipped with. The steering stops are different.

Those of us with GT's that came with 18's will have the correct steering stops. Those with sixxers, even with the 17" wheels as OE, may very well have a slight rub because cars with 17" wheels came with different stops (and for those with 16's there was yet a third set of stops).

275/40 on 18 x 9" is acceptable fitment at least by most tire mfrs. But it's right at the minimum width (9" - 11" is the usual width range for this size tire).

A 305 tire in 35, 40, or 45 profile is OK on a 10" wide rim. 10" is min width for the 35 and 40 profiles, "measuring width" for the 45. Getting a nearly 29" tall by one foot wide 305/45 tire to fit on the car is a separate issue.
