Default Wheel changes

I have a 2007 GT convertible with 18" rims. I want to put on some snow tires and wheels to make it through this winter. New 18" rims and Blizzak tires are really pricey, but the 17" rims and Blizzak tires are considerably cheaper. Not really caring about looks over the winter, just want to be able to get to where I need to go.
Can I put 17" rims on my car? or is there a way to find out?
Thanks

Yes you can. Just be sure your tire O.D. matches the OE tire O.D. (or is within a few tenths of an inch) and that the offset isn't too far off the OE's. Take-off 17" bullits are pretty cheap if you want to maintain the look. Also, with takeoffs you know that your offset is good.

If you're willing to take a day or two...you would be able to find some 18s for a very low cost. I found some Blizzaks w/ Black Steel rims for $700.00 total...there was under 3000miles on it, was driven by an elderly gent from his Caddy, went to go see it and these things were mint. Look around see if anyone are selling some...good luck in your findings.

I believe 17 is the smallest you can go brake clearance wise in a GT...

Go on "New Take Off" and find some stock 17" Mustang wheels. I got a full set of the 17" GT wheels for $330!! Then go to "Tire Rack" and find some snow tires that fit a Mustang with 17" stock wheels and you are good to go :-) My dealership mounted all four for about $15 and the speedometer is perfect because the total tire/wheel package has the same circumference for either stock configuration ;-)

Spent around $750 at a local discount tire for a set of michelin x-ice 2 tires mounted on my stock 17" wheels. Pretty damn pricey.
