Default Car and Driver's Lightning Lap

Mustangs did pretty well at Car and Driver's Lightning Lap. The GT500 even beat out a lot of the cars in the more expensive groups:

There's a video of the Mustang GT doing the lap at the bottom of the page.

HOLY CRAP. THE 2011 V6 BEAT THE 2010 GT. THAT HURTS.

I'm surprised the GT500 beat the CTS-V coupe. Cool

I just watched the video. Damn the new GT accelerates fast beyond 100mph even with a fat driver.

I was surprised the GT500 beat the CTS-V Coupe as well! The Caddy is one heck of a car.

It's a heck of a car, but it's also quite heavy. Don't forget they said the thing weighs 4,230. The GT500 SVTPP supposedly weighs in at, what, 3,824? Or is that for the non-SVTPP and 3,750 for the SVTPP?

The 2011 GT uses essentially the same chassis and the same SRA that the 05-10 models did.

What are the other important changes? Just shocks, springs, and tires?

I'm surprised they overlooked the 7k redline in the GT video...You see the needle hit 6k as the engine continues to rev.....

They also got the 10 GT going .8 seconds a lap slower than the 11 V6! Interesting.

Maybe the V6 weighs less?
