Default For you electrical guys...

If I were to buy/find a center console with the ambient lighting, would I be able to get the cup holder lights to work? I have an '05 with the basic 'deluxe' interior, which is like sitting in a cave, so I'm trying to spruce it up a little.

I've pulled the center console out before and saw some wires that run underneath and am curious if it were possible to tap into any of them.

Thanks in advance

ya, you just need to know how much power to apply to the led and hardwire it

how does the system work on your generation car if it had it stock?

It was an upgrade (Premium?) available from '08+. I rode around in a '09 that had it and thought it was pretty cool. I always wanted to get it installed in mine but was never really sure if it was possible.

Yeah I wasn't worried as much about the footwell lights, but it would be nice to have them too. My center console has some scratches from over the years and I see you can get the center console with the ambient lighting pretty affordable so I was just wondering if it was possible to hook it up

I can only tell you how it is on my 11, but its just a plastic diffuser with an led or 2 on the outside. If you don't mind it being on all the time, you can just feed an ignition feed to the led with the appropriate resistor.

I installed ambient lights out of a wrecked 2008 into my 2006 when I had it. you will need to get the complete console and as much as the wiring harness as you can INCLUDING the LED's and harnesses from the footwells ...

There will be two power leads ... one for the button illumination and 1 for the LED power.

The button Illumination goes to the 12V plug under the center console that is used to light the shifter on an automatic.

The other lead goes gets spliced in SJB Pin #5 ...

Do a Google Search on ...

mustang ambient lighting SJB

You will see a complete writeup.

Here it is installed in my 2006 ...
