Default QUICK QUESTION

I am in the middle of installing my headers, about 60% through, and was wondering if the starter needed to come out. Everything seems to be pretty easy, just ALOT of stuff needs to be taken out/apart to get to it.

Any help would be great.

Drivers side: motor mount bracket...and motor mount itself if you are replacing it at the same time.

Passenger side: Starter (3 bolts), motor mount bracket

jack up the engine using a telephone book. you'll need about 2" of extra clearance to get the LT's through that tiny *** gap on either side. once the LT's are in place, the engine can be dropped back down.

you might be able to get the passenger side in there without pulling the starter, but I doubt it. the starter blocks 4-5 of the lower manifold nuts/studs for the OEM exhaust manifolds. it's extremely easy to remove. just 3 little bolts.

if I remember correctly, it was a 10mm socket. then I used a 7-8" extension. was able to remove those 3 bolts in under 2 minutes. took longer to remove the hot wire and ground

Sorry, I can't help, but I had to do it. Good luck with the install. Going to need a video once they're on.

Tylus -- Just read your info, but I also just finished lol. I did have to remove the starter, and yes the ground wire on the passenger motor mount stud was a PITA! I am going to create a new thread with all the info and some pics I took.

Also vids will be up tomorrow, I havent started it yet since my whole house is sleeping.

808muscle -- No gloves lol My hands are beat as hell with cuts all over, but I cant work with gloves. For some odd reason I just dont like the feeling when I am working on something. "I like to feel what I am working on". (probably gonna get a perverted comeback for that)

Well congrats dude. Headers are IMO the most time consuming, frustrating, hand shredding, body aching (you"ll feel it tomorrow) mod there is. Cams, m90 supercharger, piece of cake to install compared to headers.

Yeah good thing you didnt start it up at nite...............its freaking loud dude!!! Your beast breathes heavy now!!
