I found the American Muscle link for the custom tuners that come with the 3 free Bama tunes for life, it is here in this link:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/handheld-tuners.html

The SF3 hand held is $380, where the Diablo ones are $370.

For the cheaper hand held units, absolutely no difference in the quality of the tunes you get. So, if you get one that is the 380 SF3, you still are sent the very same tunes.

The more expensive tuners have other hardware features that the cheaper units do not have. Both the cheap and the expensive hand held units load up the very same tunes.

Thanks much appreciated. One last question...would it not be smart to have just a tuner for a while without a CAI and get the CAI when i can afford one? Which i have one in mind that runs me around $175. Also, are tuners easy to install individually like the CAIs?

The tuner is simply a device for loading custom tunes (written by others) into your PCM and storing your stock tune. And not all tunes are written equally. I've seen some good custom 87 octane tunes that run circles around other lesser quality 93 octane tunes. Tunes are written for your PCM. Used tuners (handhelds) can be a problem if the previous owner didn't unlock it by returning his car to stock.

So your saying it wouldn't be a good idea to just get the tuner by itself? The only thing I plan on adding is a CAI...well...for now

A tuner by itself will have canned tunes which do not deliver much more power. That could be used in conjunction with the stock box but generally a waste of time. You will need a tuner eventually though so if you buy one piece at a time and wait that may be the route to go.

You can def do this car on a budget.

Here's my list of mods and how much i've spent

(all items are new take off or new)

SCT X3 tuner 5 unlocks left $60
TI CAI - demo model $120
GT: full exhaust installed, rear sway bar, brake rotors and new pads (New Take Off) $428
billet grille with pony (New) $155
sequencers (New) $60
poly bushings (New) $25
shorty headers (New) $100
and tunes $30

Total: $978

Sources: Mustang Forums classifieds and craigslist.

good deals are out there, just keep looking for them.

Okay cool thanks. Right now I have my eye on a 3 bama tuner and CAI combo with runs me about $554.99..there really is no money saving deal with that package but by the time I get the money there will be a better deal I believe. But after I install the combo thats about it for performance.. Last thing would probably be side scoos.. ( any input on that?) after college if she still runs well I might get some sweet rims when I get a decent job.

If that's off the AM website, find AMCHRISROSE (sp?) on the forum and request the discount code (10% if I recall). Chris will hook you up.

Jim, thanks for the info.

By the way, can I blame you when I tell my wife I want to spend $800 on parts for a brand new car?
