With the magnapacks you can't go wrong with either.

Ihave the SGT mufflers on my gt500 and when I installed an offroad pipe I only made it down the road and back. Took it off and put the stock ones with cats back on. It sounded horrific and I was embarrassed to be driving a shelby that sounded like this.

IMHO, don't like the sound of catless exhaust. Also I always advise people to check their state laws, did this when I was in Fla. they stopped checking emission so we all thought great! Well trooper told me when they stop a car that's loud they look under the car for cats. Told me it is 1K for each cat the car should have and If they want to be a BBuster can tow the car for not meeting Federal Emissin Standards. If it was OK why do vendors call them "OFF ROAD" and not "Catless H or X"

I agree with Coyote. I ran an o/r prochamber with magnapacks. Sounded good at idle and part throttle but after 2500 RPMS or so it would trumpet and it sounded extremly raspy from the inside. I added hi-flow cats and the sound improved. It got deeper and no more trumpeting. Granted it got quieter but only a little. I would maybe look at a catted x and magnapacks.

I've been thinking that it also may take for effort for the sound then I'd like, I'd have to switch out the mid pipe every year for safety inspections. The price tag is very tempting <$200 for O/R or >$400 for catted.

Would I need a turner if I got the catted mid pipe?

Depends on the catted midpipe. SOme you will need a tuner and some you wont.

Some of those catted midpipes still flow more htan the stock computer would like.

My catted x would throw codes about evey 500 miles or so. I added 02 raisers from breenspeed and the CEL has not come on in over 5000 miles.

On the C6 Vette's removing the cats doesn't help your 1/4 et's at all.

I suspect the same on the Mustangs,

It changes the sound for sure.

WOW, the O/R x and magnapacks sounds awesome! I currently have an O/R x and Pypes Violators. It is loud as hell and obnoxious in my opinion. I may have to sell the Violators and go with some magnapacks!
