custom tune for error code checking
ok, so i got a custom sct x3 tune from brenspeed, however, my daily drive which is a 2000 VW recently has a light come on, i was wondering can i use my tune to just plug in to check the code? or i need a diagnostic tools?
The DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) reader is free I think, as in not locked to the vehicle even if a custom tune is in use. You can read the trouble code(s) from the VW, no problem, ya just can´t flash it´s ECU with any actual tune.

Wow, that is cool. I did not know that.
Descriptions might be more than a bit off, as the ones we have are set to give ´em for FORD specifically though.
Just doing standard ODB-II reading for it´s DTC on any of these units. I´d be kinda honked-off if that part of any of these after-market flashers was locked, considering a $20 chip is all that is really required to read them.
Here´s a newer example. Love my OBDLink though, shame I haven´t a clue what much of that data actually means that it gives me, but still..
