Default Dumb question about exhaust tips

Sorry for being such a noob but just to clarify, I bought two of these tips for my current SLP LM axleback. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Exhau...#ht_2305wt_847

Basically, I have to cut off this bit and weld in the tips right?

EDIT: Would they even fit? SLP LM's have an inlet of 2.5" and so do these tips. Would I need an exhaust tip with 2.25" inlet to fit the 2.5" or will I be fine?

Are you wanting to slip the tips over the SLP exhaust?

If you get it welded on I think it would work... Are the SLP tips 12" long too? Might need to extend the pipe a bit if they are longer.

Why hack up the SLP's? Just sell them and get a muffler shop to bend you some pipes and put the new tips on them.

Yeah, something like that. I just want to get some chrome tips on there cause I'm not too fond of the stainless steal. I'm guessing the only way is to hack and weld right?

If you hack off the SLP exhausts, the tone will not sound the same. The tips won't have the baffles.

That's not the "only way" - someone already suggested it. Just have a shop bend the pipe and weld the new tips on the newly bent pipe. Then you can sell the SLP
