Default How does CAI change sound?

Hi,

I have a 2011 V6 with Roush axle-backs.

I was wondering how much of a difference would in the overall sound of the car be noticed after adding a CAI?

Also, is it noticeable just in the cabin, or would (for example) bystanders on the street actually be able to hear a difference?

Does it make the car sound deeper? Higher pitched? A *whooosh* air sucking sound?

All I've read is it gives more of a "growl." Sorry, but that only confuses me more.

Thanks.

I've noticed a pretty cool sucking sound with my JLT and the exhaust note is a tad louder/deeper.

How true that statement is. My wallet is certainly missing a few bucks!

o theres a very big sucking sound from your wallet but theres also a "pshhh" from the intake when you step on it, and it adds a bit more growl to the engine in general, really screams at the higher rpms

Imagine screaming with a rag in your mouth versus without. The CAI let's more air in. IMO, the change in tone isn't that drastic with a stand-alone CAI (which is about useless for power anyway) but with a tune, there is some additional change in tone in addition to the kick-azz power gain.

I know our cars are different, but here's what happened to me.

I have a CAI, I also have a full O/R exhaust and did at the time I got it. I noticed 0 change in noise.

The other day, after I installed my CMDP's, I let the car idle to make sure everything was ok, and the hood was up. After it warmed up I used a golf club to stab the go pedal a few times to make sure everything was ok, and to my surprise, there was a sweet *woosh* sound coming from the intake.

Now for me, I'll only hear it under those conditions. Get it for the power increase, not effect on sound

I have noticed a very small and IMO, insignificant sound change. Now, I have a V6 with stock exhaust, but still. As for this air sucking sound, I hear a slight woosh at 2K RPM and a slight woosh when my car shifts above 5K RPM.

Don't know about a whoosh sound or making the engine have a deeper growl, but mine produces a pretty sweet sucking in sound.
