Ok was able to back the nut off so I am able to now pull the handle up a few clicks but it is not engaging the brakes, I can still move the car.

When you pull up on the e-brake handle, does it feel like it's getting stiffer (and that is NOT a sexual inuendo at the moment) as it moves up? You should be feeling some increasing resistance thru the e-brake handle travel.

Hahaha, funny....

Yeah sort of, I pull it up and it clicks about 3 times and then stops can't pull it anymore, but is not holding car. I tried tightening the nut a little while handle is in up position but no change.

In that case, you'll need to revert back to the service manual and continue troubleshooting if you feel capable. Otherwise, it's off to a shop. Good thing is you don't need a Ford dealership to check brakes.

I find it hard to beleive that this doesn't help with the troubleshooting. The e-brake is a pretty simple system. http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=108

Did you read through it? It is not that helpful really, very basic.

Still looking for some help, was able to loosen the nut so now the handle will raise up about 3 clicks but it is not engaging the brakes, car will still roll. Any ideas?

Thanks!
