So how many miles are on the car? Maybe the rear pads are just worn too far to be compensated for?

Are the rear pads even engaging?

Try putting the rear up in the air and have someone spin the rear tire manually while you apply the brakes using the brake pedal. Do the rear brakes slow the tire down at all? If not then the problem is not soley cable related.

The car has 73k on it, haven't had any issues with the brakes but will take a look at them. So if it isn't the brakes then its the cable? Got any instructions on how to adjust cable?

The only adjustment is at the lever itself with that nut as Nuke pointed out. Beyond that you're looking at some troubleshooting or replacing the cable itself if it's broken somewhere along the line.

The links below are diagrams and parts explosions to help you in finding the different connection points and troubleshooting.

Issue.... the e brake doesn't work anymore and I need to know how to adjust it. It didn't break or anything just somehow is out of adjustment so you can't pull it up anymore.

I am a female and am very car/mechanical savvy. I don't have a job right now so I can't afford a manual (anybody have one online?). Can somebody post the pages out of a manual on how to adjust the e brake?

Thank you!!!!
Okay wait, you cannot pull the brake lever UP? As in it won't let you pull it to engage it?

If that's the case then you don't need to adjust/tighten anything. Most likely the rear pads are new and the caliper piston was not turned far enough to set the caliper far enough in. You're rear brakes are probably dragging if that's the case and my wheel spin test will confirm that.

That was the original issue "you cannot pull the brake lever UP? As in it won't let you pull it to engage it"

So I did adjust the nut so I can now pull the lever up, but no engaging of brakes.

I have not lifted the car off the ground but did a visual check and I believe all the brakes are working correctly, there is wear and also brake dust on the wheels. If they were dragging I would smell them and there would be a lot more wear I think.

Sooo cable issue I guess?

The manual shows a place on the undercarriage where the single cable from the lever splits to a "Y" to go to the rear brakes. That's another place I'd look.

My kids used to play Duke Nuke 'em...

Soooo I pulled one rear wheel off, it appears that I need some new pads.....could this affect the ebrake? I will be doing the brake job (myself) on Saturday.
