I got my 2006 V6 with pony package for 13K. 319XX miles, everything in perfect condition except a very tiny amount of corrosion on the underside of the hood, which we didn't even notice for a few weeks, it was so small. The only other "issue" was that it had the original tires on it, and after almost 32K miles, it needed some new shoes.

Got my 08 pny pk. in nov? of last year for about $15K with almost 28K on the odo. Was not a great deal, but meh the goodies were what sold me lol. Yeah used cars are getting more and more expensive lately, I noticed it first with honda/acura/ and subarus where I live. Now its spread to nearly every make/model (except the aveo )

Let's not forget about inflation. With the way the Fed has been printing money (QE2) durable good ought to be getting more expensive.

I've been looking for used GT's on a regular basis and noticed the prices going up. I've heard that the used car market is booming and the rates are higher than usual. Keep looking for that deal!!!

some here have already pointed out one possible mistake:
Don't think that you have to pay the asking price. That goes for dealers as well as private parties.
Offer 10% less than the asking price and let them know that the offer expires that day. Assuming that you've inspected the car, of course.
And don't be so stuck on colors. Mustangs look great in so many different ones!

Search the threads here to know what the problem areas are for each year and you'll be able to have them knock even more off for the water leaks, rattles in the doors and mirrors, gas tanks that are hard to fill, etc

You guys offering advice to chase deals aren't paying attention. It's NOT a good time to buy a used car right now. The best advice for the OP is to hold off for several months or maybe even a year from buying a used car. The biggest mistake will be buying a used car and then watching the value plummet by several thousand throughout the next 12 months. Again, if OP has the patience, wait until Q4 or next year to make a move.

It's not impossible to find a good deal right now, but it will be very, very difficult at this time. You will burn yourself out trying to chase a deal that doesn't exist right now.
