Default Stack Racing Shift ****

Alright guys, really really dumb question....

Is there anyone that has a 2010 mustang that installed a stack racing retro style shift ****? I cant seem to fit mine on and the directions from American Muscle dont work for what i have. I took the stock **** off and for some reason the new jam nut wont fit back on. It goes to where the threads stop and then it gets stuck. I checked the box to make sure I had the right part and I do.

If anyone has any advice please share it...

And please no "unscrew the old, screw the new back on" because clearly that doesnt work.....

R u sure you have the proper threaded nut, those top couple of threads look a little crossed, did u hand thread the nut on or use a wrench...

You need to push the shift boot retainer down all the way. It might be a little snug, but it's supposed to expose a lot more threads at the top.

its a bit late now, but that **** is epic suck, i had one on my 05 and the **** came off the threaded insert the first day. if that black push nut thnk wont go all the way down it wont fit, it should slide up and down that shifter shaft freely.

I have the **** and it works just fine. I put some Loctite on the threads when I put it on, has not moved at all. Also I pulled the boot off and put it in the retainer before I put the **** on.

The shifter boot is as far down as it goes. The black piece in pictures one and three is supposed to go down and sit in the original cup. It does not move anymore. I even put a piece of cardboard to disburse the weight and hammer it gently and it didnt budge.

Ive called American Muscle three times and I keep getting the run around. Im in the process of emailing them, maybe that will work. I think I just got the wrong part maybe? If not I guess ill have to return it and get my money back...

Also I didn't put the nut on mine, just mounted the **** right on top of the retainer, I believe it says in the directions that you don't have to use it.
