Default Flew over a curb

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong area. Couldn't find a "problems/issues" section.

I recently purchased a 2012 V6 Mustang with the performance package.

Today, while trying to back out of a stall on an incline, I had "thought" I put the car in reverse. And to avoid hitting the curb in front of me, I had the handbrake engaged slightly so I wouldn't roll forward. Well, it was in first gear and upon releasing the hand brake the car violently lurched forward and cleared a curb the size of a sidewalk (the entire car including all four wheels mounted it). Due to the stiff suspension on the performance package, it felt like I hit a brick wall.

The curb was about 6 inches in height. I checked the car thoroughly, the rims are not damaged, the underbody is not damaged (slight scratch on sub frame). The car drives fine, no weird noises and the steering does not pull in any direction.

However, being the paranoid new car owner I am, I still feel like I broke something. I have a hard time believing I lucked out and did zero damage to the car. Is there anything else I should be concerned about or look at? Could something like this bring problems in the future that may not be apparent immediately? Is it worth getting checked out by the dealer?

Thanks in advance.

You have you use the ebrake to drive a manual and you dont know which gear is reverse!? Double face palm...

It should all be fine most likely, check for any leaks underneath but you're probably good. My friend "drifted" his camaro right over a curb and aside from some dirt wedged in all sorts of places it was fine.

I took a turn too fast in the wet one time and oversteered into a curb. The whole car hopped up onto the grass. I was sure that I would have a bent tie rod or something. Turned out to be fine. These cars are tough.

So embarrassing though.

If you're not experiencing any issues with vibration, pulling, wandering, etc, then I don't know what else to tell you other than to get your head in the game. But then, we all have our moronic moments. And STILL do...

I must admit that i ran over a median one day by not paying attention. I'm glad noone was around to see, but sure leaves you paranoid for some time. Turned out fine, unless you jump one with Dukes of Hazard style, don't worry!

Sounds like you are ok OP, take it out on the highway yet? Usually that's where my cars would act up if out of balance or had suspension issues, etc.

I've been in situations where I think I'm hot chit backing into a parking spot and end up brushing a curb or going through the lines LOL. It happens to everyone! Relax.

At least there were no sexy ladies watching you mess up, right?

It lurched forward enough for your entire car to go onto the sidewalk?!

I doubt there is anything wrong, get underneath it and make sure nothing is bent. I decided I would gas my car hard while tuning on to a road, the rear end went left, right, back to left and I drove clean off the road, then over a rock sticking about 6 inches out of ground and down a small hill. I must have spent the next month looking under that car everyday and all I've ever seen is some scrapes on the undercarriage.

I would think a straight on Curb hop could damage rims, tires and front valance .. nothing else.

Another nice thing about the TR6060...reverse is on the opposite side from 1st so this doesn't happen ;-)
